The Diwali celebrations here in Leicester hold a special place in the hearts of many, including my own. It brings our communities together as one, not to mention the massive contribution it makes to our local economy with thousands flooding to Leicester to join the celebrations.
I know how important these celebrations are to us - which is why so many of you have reached out to me on this issue.
For the Labour City Mayor to even consider to stop the funding is shocking. We want Leicester to be at its’ best, which is why I’ve written to the City Mayor to highlight exactly why we need to continue funding these celebrations, and keep Leicester’s rich and historic culture thriving.
