My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies go out to all those affected by recent floods, particularly my constituents in Leicester East.
Local flooding is a result of the overflow of brooks in the area, and is something I have been liaising closely with relevant authorities on to ensure that it does not happen again.
I have received written assurances from the Environment Agency of their intentions to maintain the brooks monthly to mitigate future flood risks, and will look closely to ensure this commitment is upheld.
My team and I are receiving regular updates from local authorities on current flooding, and are working hard to ensure all residents who require support are directed to the appropriate bodies.
I remain steadfast in my support of residents as we navigate this challenging and difficult time, and will continue to work with residents to strengthen our flood defences and keep our community safe.
